goodnewsGood News!

On October 23rd the committee conducted a “walkability’ audit in the locality and discovered that Scoil Carmel is located in an area that makes it very possible to walk to school safely.

Green Theme

We are working on the theme of Travel this year and hope to get everybody walking and cycling to school as often as they can, including teachers!!

Have you noticed the WOW banner outside in the school yard? It means “Walk on Wednesday’.

We hope all the children and parents will make a big effort to try to walk/cycle on Wednesdays, and any other days of course!  If you can’t walk the whole way and need your car why not consider park / stride. Park the car a short distance away from the school and then walk with your child.

If we can arrange it with interested parents we could set up a walking bus from selected locations in Firhouse.  If any parents are interested in setting this up please come talk to Ms. Tynan, Room 12.

On Wednesday 27th November we will officially launch our first WOW day.  We will be at the school gates greeting children as they walk in. If possible (and weather permitting) please make a big effort to walk to school on that day or at least part of the way!

We are looking for parents to join the Green School Committee ! Your School needs you!

Please contact Ms. Tynan in Room 12 if you can help.

walktoschoolSlogan Competition!

Can you think of a slogan for our school based on best ways to travel? It can be in English or in Irish or in both!

The winning entrant‘s slogan will be adopted as Scoil Carmel’s Green School Code.
